Quarry Point Terrain Scans

Terrain scan sets, published in full resolution

We publish the raw and processed output of terrain survey work: dense point clouds, decimated meshes, and the surface texture sets that go with them. Sets are released at the resolution they were captured at, without downsampling, so they stay useful for measurement rather than preview.

Most sets are between 4 GB and 90 GB. Read the downloads notes before starting a large transfer.

Recently published

Quarry Point north face

Point cloud + mesh + textures · 86.4 GB

Full working face at 4 mm average point spacing, captured over nine scan positions and registered into a single cloud. Includes the decimated mesh used for volume comparison.

Ferrier cliff line

Point cloud + orthophoto · 41.2 GB

Coastal cliff section covering 2.4 km of shoreline, flown in two passes at different tide levels. Useful as a baseline for erosion comparison against later captures.

Set details

Ashwell pit floor

Mesh + textures · 12.8 GB

Pit floor and haul ramp as a watertight mesh with 8K texture pages. Published together with the control point list so the mesh can be re-georeferenced.

Brandling spoil heaps

Point cloud · 28.0 GB

Four spoil heaps captured in a single session for volume estimation, with the unfiltered cloud included alongside the vegetation-classified version.

How the sets are organised

Every set is published as a directory of numbered archive parts plus a manifest listing the expected size and SHA-256 of each part. Nothing is bundled into a single enormous file, so a transfer that stops partway can be resumed part by part rather than restarted. The manifest is small and can be fetched first to check what a full download will cost you.

Processed derivatives live beside the raw capture rather than replacing it. If a set has been reprocessed, the earlier version stays available under its original date so published measurements remain reproducible.
